Star Fruit

starfruit 300x174 Star Fruit

You can get creative with anything.

You can get creative with anything.

The other day, my husband came home with a bag of Star Fruit. They are tasty and very unique with brilliant color.  I couldn’t resist bringing out the camera. Maybe I am really a photographer at heart! I wanted to have a record of their beauty, shape and size. Then I could make a sketch or painting of them later. That is creative, but not too original.

My husband, on the other hand, got creative immediately. He made a delicious dessert with the Star Fruit without consulting a recipe book. The ingredients he used were star fruit,  apple, flour, brown sugar, butter and Ramen noodles!  UGH! Those were the ingredients that we happened to have in the pantry that day.  He jumped in, tried something new and wasn’t afraid if the results were not that great.

His use of the Star Fruit exemplifies how I would like to be with my art. I just want to jump in. I don’t want to plan or wait until I have the appropriate supplies. I don’t want to wait until I have bought that ideal paintbrush or cleaned my studio to perfection.  I know what I want to do, but doing it sometimes is another thing. So, I am writing this article to myself. Get busy, jump in and create something. Don’t worry about the final result until later. You might be pleasantly surprised like I was when I tasted my husband’s Star Fruit concoction.

Look around. You can get creative with anything. Until next time.
