For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.
I have not written a creativity devotional for a few weeks. Things have been crazy in my life with moving and getting our house in shape. Today I am departing from my creativity devotional for another reason. My father-in-law, Walter Glenn Holliday, passed away this afternoon.
I knew and loved Glenn for 36 years. Hard to imagine that the time has flown by so quickly. How does 36 years go by like the blink of an eye?
I met Glenn when I was 18. My father died when I was 11, so Glenn became my father. He taught me the importance of family, doing the right thing, and living a life based on Bible values. He taught me about love, devotion, forgiveness, and sacrifice. He taught me how to laugh at myself. Once he even told me I was beautiful when I cried. I guess I must be beautiful today. He was an incredible example for all who knew him.
Today was Glenn’s time to die. Today is our time to mourn, to weep, to embrace, to love. But it is also a time to rejoice because Glenn is now with our Lord.
We will miss you Walter Glenn Holliday.
