My grandchildren spent the first week in June competing in the Grimes County Fair. This is an annual event. Not only do children bring their show animals to the fair, they also are given the chance to bring other types of creative projects.
My grandchildren did a little bit of everything. They competed in the pig and goat show. The two younger boys competed in the peewee show with a goat, pig and lamb. They entered projects in sewing, crocheting, jewelry making, photography, food, and fine art.
I was impressed with the art work that I saw in this local fair. This is a great way to encourage creativity in children and adults as well. If you ever get the chance, go to the county fair in your area and see the wonderful work.
