Have you ever thought of yourself as being a co-creator with God? Have you ever felt God’s presence as you worked on an art project? I can say that I have had experiences where I knew God was working through me, but I don’t know if I ever considered God and I as co-creators. I guess, when you think about it, we really were.
I’ve had painting experiences where it seemed as if someone else was holding my paintbrush, almost as if the painting was painting itself. The feeling was awesome and the resulting artwork was always different from the rest of my work. Early in my painting career I had these experiences more often than I do today.
Why? For one reason, I am not painting as much now as I did then. Another reason could be I am not paying attention to God’s presence as I work. Is it possible God is doing the work and I am sitting in the backseat watching? Maybe. Could it be a pride thing? Have I been depending only on myself?
The reasons do not matter. I know how it feels to be a co-creator with God. I want that feeling again. I want to tap into the creative strength that comes from working together with my Lord. So, what do I have to do? Ask for God’s help. Meditate or consciously reflect on the fact that God is with me every step of the way. Believe God listens and answers my prayers. Accept God’s helpful creative hand.
Great Creator of all,
Thank you for hearing my prayers, my thoughts, my hopes, my dreams. Thank you for always being with me whether or not I notice. Thank you for allowing me to be a co-creator with you. Help me to remember to ask for, believe in, and receive your help. You are an awesome God! I praise Your name.
In Christ name. Amen.
