You are not a reservoir with a limited amount of resources; you are a channel attached to unlimited divine resources.
I found this quote in a book titled Apples of Gold. The title of the book is based on Proverbs 25:11, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”
The book is full of quotes compiled by Jo Petty. The chapters are arranged according to Galatians 5:22-23; love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
Jo Petty was a friend of my great aunts, Maisy and Elsie. Jo took a hobby and used it to glorify God. I know this because of an inscription in the front of the book which says, “What started as a hobby of a friend turned into this little book.”
The forward in the book says, “The material in this book has been collected over a long period of time. Many of the original sources are unknown to the compiler. The compiler wishes to acknowledge the original authors, whoever they may be, but has confidence that they would urge with her, ‘Do not inquire as to who said this, but pay attention to what is said.'”
I’m sure that I could do a google search and find the author of the quote above, but would it make the quote more meaningful? I think not. Compiling a book full of quotes without giving credit to the authors seems like a great leap of faith. Jo did not let that limit her. The outcome is a beautful book full of wisdom.
Reading the quote above gives me hope and peace. I know I am not alone in this creativity thing. I know that I am only limited by myself. If I have faith, then the sky’s the limit.
Sometimes my attitude isn’t what it should be. Sometimes I worry about what is coming next. I limit myself creatively and I limit you. My mind can’t fathom the unlimited resources you offer. Help me to get over the thinking thing. Help me to connect to you and to channel your incredible resources. In Christ’s name. Amen.
