I can wholeheartedly answer “No!” to that question. When I am surrounded by clutter I can’t seem to focus. I get distracted and have a hard time being able to get anything done.
Right now my husband and I are remodeling a house. We are hanging cabinets, painting, laying tile, refinishing hardwood floors, etc. I say “we” very loosely. My husband is the remodeling guru. I just follow orders. We are trying to get the house finished to move into.
My personal belongings, art supplies, furniture, and house hold items are here and there. Some things are in the garage, some in a storage area, some are boxed up, some are set out if I need them where we are staying. It is a little stressful to say the least. I am very ready to have my things in one place and to get my life organized.
I wish I was able to overlook the disorganization and go to work. Sometimes I think it would be better if I could do that. I have learned how to tune out distractions like noise and TV. Maybe someday I will get used to living out of a suitcase and boxes.
My current creative outlet is writing this blog. Sometimes I think I am not doing the job I should. I have so many things I want to write about. I have many things I want to demonstrate. But I find myself distracted.
Hopefully in a week or so my life will settle down and I can get back to being creative with my actual artwork. I am certainly hopeful. Oregon is such a beautiful place with so many wonderful scenes to paint and sketch. I can’t wait to share my experiences with you.
If you are able to function creatively while surrounded by clutter, I would love to hear how you do it.
